They have earned the common name "Gold Dust" by exhibiting very impressive scale patterns of blue iridescence over a golden body. They are considered one of the more beautiful species of Geophagus currently in the hobby. Their behavior and max size is similar to Red Head Tapajos, making them an attractive tankmate for medium sized cichlids and characins.
