Parkinsoni Rainbow
Melanotaenia parkinsoni is a popular species of rainbowfish from Papua New Guinea. Males develop a blotchy, yellow to orange colour along the back half as they mature; the head area is a greenish-silver. These are a larger species of Melanotaenia and may reach up to 6" long; 3-4" is more average in aquarium. Like all rainbowfish they are schooling fish and should be kept in groups of at least 3, preferably 6 or more. They are well-behaved and work well in mid- to large-sized community aquarium with similarly sized fishes.
These are adults around 1.5-2" long that are starting to colour up.
